During the first weekend of the screening of the film "Red Silk" in China, the box office receipts of the film amounted to several hundred thousand dollars. Svetlana Balanova, General Director of the National Media Group (NMG), told about this on September 11 at the session "Common Cultural Space: is it possible today" at the XI St. Petersburg International Forum of United Cultures.

"I must say that the Chinese market is really difficult for us. But on the first weekend, we still managed to raise several hundred thousand dollars. That is, let's say, in recent history, these are, of course, record fees," she said.

Svetlana Balanova stressed that the rental of the film "Red Silk" in China has been extended for a month. According to her, this confirms the success of the film, as Chinese cinemas quickly withdraw films that are not popular.

The General Director of NMG noted that 17 new films were simultaneously released along with Red Silk.

"That is, it came out in huge competition, and in fact was one of the best releases," Balanova emphasized.

She recalled that Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping had noted the importance of co-producing films. According to her, the fact that "Red Silk" received the national film certificate in Russia and "Dragon Seal" in China is a unique case.

"The really unique thing about this film is that it's a co-production. Because before that, there were really some pretty loud rumblings of Russian cinema in China," Svetlana Balanova added.

On September 6, at the China Film International International Cinema (Oriental Plaza CINEMA branch) in Beijing, viewers shared their impressions after watching the Russian-Chinese film "Red Silk". The viewer noted that the film turned out to be very fresh for a historical picture. She also appreciated the good cast and plot of the film produced by Russia and China.

Global Time reported on September 5 that the film "Red Silk", which premiered in China on September 4, made a strong impression on viewers in China. The film has already collected more than 689 million rubles at the Russian box office and entered the top 10 highest-grossing films of the year.

Russian President Vladimir Putin emphasized that the idea of joint filmmaking between Russia and China belongs to Chinese President Xi Jinping, answering a question from Izvestia on September 3 about the first retro film made by the two countries, Red Silk.

The film was created with the participation of NMG Kinoprokat, a company that is part of the National Media Group holding.
