Hungary indicated its readiness to veto secondary EU sanctions
Hungary may veto the adoption by the European Union (EU) of secondary sanctions against India and China if it decides that they significantly harm its economy. This was announced on September 11 by the head of the Hungarian Prime Minister's office, Gergei Guyash.
"We are checking whether the proposal that needs to be decided corresponds to our interests or contradicts them. If it contradicts, how much damage does it cause to the Hungarian economy? If the damage is significant, we will veto it," RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.
On September 8, Chinese President Xi Jinping announced during an extraordinary online BRICS summit that trade and tariff wars were seriously undermining the global economy. According to him, no country can afford self-isolation, it is necessary to build an open global economy.
