The strikes by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) on Doha are leading to increased tension in the conflict in the Middle East. This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov at a meeting of the Russia—Gulf Cooperation Council Strategic Dialogue in Sochi.

"Our meetings today are taking place amid a sharp increase in military and political tensions in the Middle East as a result of the Israeli missile and bombing attacks on Doha, Qatar, on September 9," the minister said.
