Latvia has closed its airspace over the border with Russia and Belarus
Latvia has closed the airspace on its eastern border with Russia and Belarus for a week. This was announced on September 11 by the country's Defense Minister Andris Sprouds on the social network X (former. Twitter).
"The airspace zone will be closed from today at 18:00 (local time, coincides with Moscow time. — Ed.) for at least a week — until September 18," he wrote.
The minister added that the decision was made in the context of the upcoming Russian-Belarusian Zapad—2025 exercises, which will be held in Belarus. According to Spruds, this will allow the Latvian military to more effectively control the airspace and simplify the detection of unauthorized objects.
