Hamas intends to resume negotiations on the release of hostages in Gaza
Despite the Israeli attack on the leaders of the Palestinian radical movement Hamas in the Qatari capital Doha, the group decided to continue negotiations on a cease-fire and the release of hostages. This was reported on September 11 by The Jerusalem Post newspaper, citing sources.
It is reported that the Hamas political bureau has reached a consensus on continuing negotiations in a way that ensures the fulfillment of its demands, including a complete cease-fire, the withdrawal of Israeli troops from the Gaza Strip and guarantees regarding the future governance of Gaza.
"It is expected that Hamas will resume contacts with the mediators in the coming days after the stabilization of the security situation," the article says.
According to the newspaper, internal consultations are planned through secure channels among the leaders of the group to determine the further negotiation strategy.
The day before, The Times of Israel newspaper said that the Qatari authorities had instructed a team of lawyers to study the possibility of bringing international charges against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in connection with Israel's strike on Hamas leaders.
On September 9, the IDF press service reported attacks on the top leadership of the Hamas movement. The IDF stressed that measures had been taken before the strike to minimize damage to the civilian population. So, the strikes were carried out with precision weapons, additional intelligence data was used.
Shortly after, the Palestinian movement reported that six people were killed in the attack, including the son of Hamas leader Khalil al-Haya and a Qatari officer. The movement's negotiating team survived.
