Calculation of the Strela-10 air defense system destroyed the UAV of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Red Army area

A crew of the Strela-10 anti-aircraft missile system (SAM) of the Aleysky Guards motorized rifle unit of the Center group of forces destroyed a Shark reconnaissance unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the Red Army area of the special military operation (SVO) during combat duty. This was announced on September 11 by the Russian Defense Ministry.

Strela-10 has proven itself quite well in this regard <...> more than one hundred reconnaissance drones have been shot down," said platoon commander Artyom Kirkov.

During combat duty, the SAM crew visually detected an enemy drone trying to overcome the air defense zone to scout targets and adjust fire strikes. After detecting and determining the corridor of the drone's flight, the complex's crew quickly took up a firing position, aimed the gun and hit the target with an accurate shot.

The combat work was carried out in normal mode, from the moment of detection to the destruction of the target, about 2 minutes passed, which did not allow the enemy to obtain intelligence information about the location of units of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.

"As a rule, we notice him in advance, we begin to monitor, that is, where he is going, where he is flying. Well, then we make a decision. <...> The commander shows the direction, you find everything and shoot down the target," said the operator Pavel Chuvanev.

The new equipment will reduce the time spent by the gunners in their positions.

On September 10, the Russian Defense Ministry reported how military installations, armored and automotive equipment, as well as personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Sumy region were destroyed during the combat work of the Molniya-2 UAV crews of the Phoenix battalion of the 1st Guards Engineer Sapper Regiment of the North group of forces.
