Szijjarto noted the irrationality of the EU's sanctions policy against Russia.
The sanctions policy pursued by the member states of the European Union (EU) is not effective and there is no point in continuing it. This was announced on August 10 by Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto in an interview with the Belarusian TV channel NEWS BY.
According to him, Budapest has a personal and unwavering position on this issue, the so-called red lines, which will be defended.
"If you look at the numbers, you will see how much they (sanctions. — Ed.) harm was inflicted on the European economy. Hungary has made it clear that we have red lines: energy, food security, pharmaceuticals, and we do not allow these areas to be sanctioned," he said in an interview posted on his YouTube channel.
Szijjarto also pointed out that the EU, which wants to continue the confrontation with the Russian Federation, does not cease to exert pressure on his country, which indicates the presence of anti-democratic processes in the alliance.
"Brussels is doing everything possible to throw out strong leaders and install its puppet government," he concluded.
A day earlier, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban announced attempts by the "Brussels elite" to deprive EU member states of the opportunity to independently determine their policies.
