According to an online poll, two thirds of French citizens are dissatisfied with the appointment of Sebastian Lecorn as the country's new prime minister. This was reported on September 10 by the newspaper Le Figaro, which ordered a study from Odoxa-Backbone.

"The promotion of this supporter of the head of state (Lecorny. — Ed.) does not meet the "expectations" of the overwhelming majority of French (69%). <...> He is received even worse than his two last predecessors (Francois Bayrou and Michel Branier — Ed.)," the publication says.

It is clarified that of the 1,000 people who took part in this survey, only 29% supported Lecorn's appointment, while only 6% were unequivocally satisfied with this decision. However, at the same time, the majority of respondents — 73% — considered the decision of the new prime minister to discuss the specifics of the allocation of the state budget for 2026 to be correct, and only 38% believe that this promise "will bear fruit."

On August 26, BFMTV announced the desire of more than 72% of the French to dismiss the current Prime Minister Bayrou at that time. This survey was conducted the day after a vote of no confidence was given to him, who announced a second-by-second increase in the French national debt.

The Reuters news agency reported on September 8 that French MPs voted against a vote of confidence in the Bayrou government, after which Lecorny, the French Minister of the Armed Forces, was appointed to his post on September 9.
