The West warned Ukraine and the EU about the danger of ignoring Russia

Europe and Ukraine risk missing an opportunity for peace if they continue to ignore Russia's signals of willingness to negotiate. This was announced on September 10 by the Responsible Statecraft publication.

The publication claims that, despite the unacceptability of Moscow's conditions for Kiev and Brussels, the refusal to accept the "openness" of the Russian Federation may lead to the loss of a real opportunity to conclude peace. The article notes that Russia's key demands remain unchanged, but the country is ready to negotiate, including discussing security guarantees and possible membership of Ukraine in the European Union (EU). At the same time, the issue of territorial concessions remains closed, the article adds.

"In any case, postponing diplomacy and trying to keep fighting <...> they will only worsen the situation of Ukraine," emphasizes Responsible Statecraft.

The article also says that Kiev could conclude the most beneficial agreement back in 2022. The beginning of a dialogue with Russia is important for Ukraine, the authors of the material summarize.

Earlier, on September 10, US Vice President Jay Dee Vance said that negotiations to resolve the Ukrainian crisis were focused on two main issues — territories and security guarantees. He also added that Kiev wants to be sure that if a peace agreement is reached, the conflict will not happen again.

On the same day, Vance announced that the United States was continuing to work on resolving the conflict. According to the Vice President, reaching a peace agreement is in the interests of both the Ukrainian and Russian sides.

On September 9, American leader Donald Trump announced that he was still determined to achieve a settlement in Ukraine. He added that the resolution of the conflict seemed to him the "simplest" of all, but the situation was complicated allegedly because of "mutual hostility" at the leadership level.
