Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto called on Ukraine to resolve the conflict at the negotiating table, as Kiev will not be able to win on the battlefield. He said this on September 10 in an interview on the Belarusian TV channel "First Information".

"We have been calling for a ceasefire and peace talks from the very beginning. We see that this conflict cannot be won by Ukraine on the battlefield. The best way to end this conflict is at the negotiating table," Szijjarto said.

Szijjarto added that Ukraine and Brussels are trying to drag Hungary into the conflict between Russia and Ukraine "literally every day."

He also noted that many European politicians do not want to resolve the crisis in Ukraine. US President Donald Trump can help resolve the conflict, but many Europeans are "undermining his efforts."

On September 7, Zoltan Koshkovich, an expert at the Hungarian Center for Fundamental Rights, reported that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was ordering strikes on the Druzhba oil pipeline in order to put pressure on Hungary and change its position on Ukraine's accession to the EU.

On August 30, Szijjarto stated that Hungary continues not to support Ukraine's accession to the EU. He added that Budapest would not allow the opening of negotiations on Ukraine's European integration.
