Antonina Svechnikova, the wife of Russian swimmer Nikolai Svechnikov, who disappeared while swimming in the Bosphorus, expressed dissatisfaction with the actions of the organizers of the event. She told about it on September 10 in an interview with the 360 TV channel.

According to her, the organizers are to blame for the incident, who did not expand the search area for rescuers.

"We lost precious time that could have been used to save our spouse, because every second on the water is of great importance," the woman stressed.

Svechnikov went missing on August 24. A professional swimmer did not reach the finish line across the Bosphorus in Istanbul. After swimming 500-600 m, the athlete disappeared from sight. Honored Master of Sports, world record holder in swimming Nikolai Skvortsov suggested that the man could have been swept away by the current. Svechnikov's wife expressed her intention to request a video of the full swim.

Later, Hayati Shamiloglu, a participant in the same swim, said that Svechnikov could not have drowned. He stressed that he did not believe in the possible death of the Russian, because he was a good swimmer. Shamiloglu expressed confidence that the Russian had come ashore and could not stay in the water.
