The NATO countries are ready for self-defense. This was announced on September 10 by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, commenting on the drone incident in Poland.

"At the request of Poland, the NATO Council today discussed Russian actions in accordance with Article 4 of the North Atlantic Treaty. NATO is ready for defense and will remain so," RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.

He called the incident in Poland and the "chain of provocations" in the Baltic Sea region and on the eastern flank of NATO aggressive actions by Russia, but did not provide specific examples.

The Russian Defense Ministry also reported that targets for destruction on the territory of Poland during a massive strike by the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation on the military-industrial complex of Ukraine on the night of September 10 were not planned.
