Death toll during protests in Nepal has increased to 30
In Nepal, more than 30 people were killed and more than 1,000 injured during the riots. This was reported on September 10 by The Kathmandu Post newspaper on the social network X (ex. Twitter).
"The Ministry of Health and Population has confirmed that 30 people were killed and 1,033 injured during the protests," the publication says.
It is known that 713 victims have already been discharged from hospitals. The largest number of patients is being treated at the Kathmandu Civil Hospital — 436 people, at the National Trauma Center — 161, at the Everest Hospital — 109. In total, the wounded are receiving medical care in 28 hospitals across the country.
Nepal's Ministry of Health also called on medical facilities to remain on high alert.
Earlier in the day, 25 people were reported dead and 633 injured as a result of the protests.
On September 8, the Nepalese authorities imposed a ban on the activities of a number of large social networks that did not register with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology on time. In this regard, mass protests began. Nepal's Prime Minister Sharma Oli resigned on September 9 amid anti-government protests. Rioters also set fire to the central office of the ruling Nepali Congress Party.
