The President of the Syrian Arab Republic (SAR) for the transitional period, Ahmed al-Sharaa, will lead the country's delegation at the upcoming Russian-Arab summit in October. This was announced on September 10 at the Syrian Embassy.

"The delegation will be headed by His Excellency the President of the Syrian Arab Republic," the diplomatic mission told RIA Novosti.

The Syrian embassy recalled that during a press conference between Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak and Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shibani in Damascus, the Syrian side confirmed the summit's participation.

The first Russian-Arab summit is scheduled for October 15. The meeting will be held in Moscow.

Earlier, on September 9, Novak offered the Syrian authorities Moscow's opportunities to resolve issues with Israel and Syria's ethnic groups. He also stressed that the Russian Federation shares Damascus' concern about the destructive actions of the Israeli side, and expressed concern about periodic outbreaks of violence against religious and national minorities.
