- Hegseth informed the head of the Ministry of Defense of the People's Republic of China about the unwillingness of the United States to go into conflict with China
The United States does not seek conflict with China and does not seek regime change in the country. This was stated by Pentagon Chief Pete Hegseth during a telephone conversation with Chinese Defense Minister Dong Jun. The relevant information was published on the official website of the ministry on September 10.
"Minister Hegseth has made it clear that the United States does not seek conflict with China, regime change, or the strangulation of the PRC," the statement said.
It is noted that Hegseth informed his Chinese counterpart that the United States has vital interests in the Asia-Pacific region (APR), a priority theater of possible military operations, and they will resolutely defend these interests.
"In general, the Minister and the Minister exchanged views openly and constructively. They agreed on further discussions," the Pentagon said.
Nakaune, The Wall Street Journal, reported that China is rapidly developing a submarine fleet, increasing competition with the United States and its allies in the Pacific region, leading to a new arms race. It was noted that Beijing has made progress in creating a new generation of nuclear submarines — they are faster, longer-range and quieter than previous ones.
