Sobyanin announced the completion of the restoration of the Tabakov Theater

The restoration of the historic building on Chistye Prudy, where the Oleg Tabakov Theater is located, has been completed in Moscow. This was announced by the mayor of the capital, Sergei Sobyanin, noting that the first performance there will be held on October 1.

"This is very symbolic, since it is in 2025 that we celebrate the 90th anniversary of the founder of the theater, Oleg Pavlovich Tabakov," the mayor wrote on his channel in the IACH. "His legacy is the cultural heritage of our country."

The mayor recalled that during the restoration process, the theater "strengthened structures, replaced all engineering systems, installed modern stage equipment, and created the most comfortable conditions for the audience and theater staff."

The building in which the theater is located is an object of cultural heritage of federal significance. In this regard, special technologies and unique design solutions were used for the work.

The mayor noted that, according to the decision of the theater's management, "the debut works of the younger generation of directors and artists will be presented on the historical stage first of all," and wished Tabakerka "new bright premieres."

In March, Sergei Sobyanin opened Nikita Mikhalkov's Workshop 12 theater after restoration. According to the mayor, the theater on Povarskaya Street has unique stage equipment. "This is no longer just a theater, but a new cultural space where experimental productions, festivals, concerts, film screenings, and presentations can be held," Sobyanin said.

During the restoration work, special attention was paid to preserving and recreating historical details and elements: ribbon and stained glass windows, columns in the main foyer. Specialists also restored the facades and columns of the main entrance.

The transformer hall has also been renovated with more than 600 seats: it is now equipped with a unique immersion acoustics system. In addition, a technical opportunity has appeared for use in hologram productions. Restoration work at the Workshop 12 Theater began in 2021.
