The system of monetary rewards for citizens who report drunk drivers to the police operates in 11 regions of Russia. It turned out that this option was not in demand in some regions, Kommersant reported on September 10.

In the Altai Republic, a citizen receives 5,000 rubles for a confirmed report of a drunk driver. The relevant decree was adopted by the authorities in September last year, 1.5 million rubles were allocated for remuneration in the regional budget for 2025. In order for a citizen to receive money, he needs to get a set of documents from the police and apply for payment to the republican Committee for Civil Defense, Emergency Situations and Fire Safety. It is also required to sign a consent to the processing of personal data.

A year later, on September 9, at a meeting of the regional government, the results of the work of this system were discussed. It was assumed that the financial interest of citizens contributes to reducing the number of "drunk" accidents. However, according to the head of the Republican Committee on Civil Defense, Emergencies and Fire Safety, Yuri Leontiev, the committee has not received a single appeal.

The prosecutor of the Altai Republic, Anatoly Bogdanchikov, explained that complaints about drunk drivers are still being received by the police (62 reports for the first half of 2025), but citizens do not take money for activity. In his opinion, the problem is related to the fact that not all informants are willing to disclose personal data.

The absence of applications for remuneration was also reported in the Republic of Tyva. There is no activity of citizens in the Komi Republic either. The Department of Regional Security of Yamal explained that local residents often refuse payments, arguing this with an active civic position. At the same time, the authorities of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug plan to raise the bonus amount from 4 thousand to 5 thousand rubles in 2026.

On September 9, it was reported that traffic violations committed in Russia could lead to a ban on the entry of foreign citizens into the Russian Federation. A foreigner may not be allowed to enter the Russian Federation if he has been brought to administrative responsibility two or more times within three years under any article of the Administrative Code, including articles related to traffic violations.
