During a raid in one of the hostels in Moscow, more than 80 illegal immigrants were identified as part of a pre-investigation check on the organization of illegal migration against the background of the death of an athlete after a fight with foreign citizens in the Moscow region. This was announced on September 10 by the press service of the main metropolitan Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia.

"Investigators of the capital's Investigative Committee, in cooperation with Rosgvardiya officers, conducted a raid at the hostel [on 50 let Oktyabrya Street in Moscow]. During the inspection of the premises, at least 1 thousand foreign citizens were checked. As a result, over 80 people who violated the migration regime were identified. They have been delivered to law enforcement agencies," the press service's Telegram channel says.

It clarifies that the detainees are being checked for involvement in crimes against state power and public security. The handwritten materials discovered during the inspection are being examined for the content of extremist ideas.

The incident with the athlete occurred on August 17 in Moscow. The conflict started in a bar and continued on the street. Then a group of young men beat up a local resident, who turned out to be a 20-year-old football player of the Russian Community club, Arseniy Eroshevich. The athlete died in the hospital. A criminal case was opened under Article 111 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Intentional infliction of serious harm to health"). Later, four defendants in the case were arrested.
