Russia is ready to accept tourists from the United States in case of resumption of direct flights between the countries. This was announced on September 10 by Nikita Kondratiev, Director of the Department of Multilateral Economic Cooperation and Special Projects of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, on the sidelines of the international tourism forum and exhibition Recreation.

"We are ready to receive tourists from the United States if flights begin," Kondratiev told reporters, as quoted by the TASS news agency.

The head of the Department of the Ministry of Economic Development added that the decision to resume direct flights is primarily political. The aviation authorities of one country must send an application in a certain form to the aviation authorities of another, Kondratiev explained.
