- Shoigu expressed Russia's support for the measures taken by the BiH authorities to stabilize the situation in the country
Russia supports the measures taken by the leadership of the Republika Srpska (RS, an entity within Bosnia and Herzegovina) to normalize the current situation in the country, and also hopes that they will be crowned with success. This was stated on September 10 by the Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, Sergei Shoigu, during a meeting in Moscow with the President of the Republic, Milorad Dodik.
"The situation in Republika Srpska is quite tense. We hope that the measures that you are taking and are supported by us will give results," RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.
Shoigu added that since his last meeting with Dodik at the end of May, there have been many problems that need to be discussed. First of all, this is the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina itself and the Republika Srpska, as well as the events in Belgrade. According to Dodik, the situation is completely under control.
On the eve of the meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Dodik noted that relations between the Russian Federation and Republika Srpska are very good. According to the politician, the Russian Federation constantly demonstrates its interest in the situation during meetings. Lavrov, in turn, during a meeting with the head of the RS, called the events in Bosnia and Herzegovina evidence of the West's gross interference in the internal affairs of the republic.
