There have been 297 road accidents in Russia over the past 24 hours.
Over the past day, 297 road accidents have occurred on Russian roads, in which 27 people were killed and 340 injured, 20 of the dead were drivers and passengers. This was reported to Izvestia on September 10 by the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
20 accidents involving buses were recorded, in which there were no fatalities, however, 23 road users, including one child, required medical assistance. 11 bus accidents were caused by traffic violations committed by drivers of other vehicles.
As a result of 77 accidents, 38 of which occurred at pedestrian crossings and 39 outside their area of operation, seven pedestrians were killed, and 73 more were injured in various degrees of severity. Among the injured were 14 child pedestrians, six of whom were injured when crossing the roadway outside the designated areas.
There were also 30 accidents involving minors, in which 33 young road users were injured, including nine passengers, four cyclists and three motor vehicle drivers. There are no dead children.
One of the most vulnerable categories among underage road users are child passengers, the State Traffic Inspectorate recalled. While driving in a car with a child, it is important to choose a safe driving style, not to be distracted at the wheel, not to exceed the set speed limit, as well as to observe a safe side interval and distance between vehicles, to abandon risky driving, overtaking and driving into oncoming traffic, even in permitted places.
Drivers should also be extremely careful when approaching pedestrian crossings, especially unregulated ones. You should not rush through them, thereby interfering with other road users, including pedestrians. It is important to reserve time for yourself in order to have time to respond adequately to a possible change in the traffic situation. It is recommended that you reduce your speed as much as possible until you come to a complete stop to allow pedestrians to pass.
The department recalled that according to the requirements of traffic regulations, the road can only be crossed at pedestrian crossings, and in their absence — at intersections along sidewalks or roadsides. At unregulated crossings, you can enter the roadway only after assessing the distance to approaching vehicles and their speed, making sure that the crossing will be safe.
When crossing roads and driving along roadsides or the edge of the carriageway at night or in conditions of insufficient visibility, pedestrians are advised (and outside populated areas they are required) to carry objects with retroreflective elements and make sure that they are seen by drivers.
"We urge parents not to leave preschool children unattended on the street while walking together. When driving with them on foot near the roadway, including in "calm" courtyard areas, always lead them by the hand in order to exclude possible unpredictable actions of children due to their age, as well as to have time to react to the danger from motorists," said the deputy head of the Department for Road Safety Promotion and prevention of child traffic Police Colonel Anton Belan was involved in road traffic injuries at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
Earlier, on September 4, the State Traffic Inspectorate recalled that citizens and legal entities who, on the day of their admission to Russia, permanently resided in the territories of the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics (DPR and LPR), Zaporizhia and Kherson regions, are required to replace registration documents and license plates with Russian ones by January 1, 2026.
