- Criminal cases have been initiated in Russia for the transfer of pit bikes to children.
Investigative authorities in Russia have begun to initiate criminal cases for the transfer of pit bikes and other children's motorcycles/ATVs to children. One of these cases was recorded by the SU IC of Russia in the Astrakhan region, follows from the statement of the regional department in the Telegram channel. Anton Shaparin, vice President of the National Automobile Union (NAS), told Izvestia that such a practice had not been used before.
So, a 43-year-old resident of the village of Verkhny Baskunchak handed over an Alfa moped to a minor. He drove onto a public road, ended up on the "oncoming lane" and collided with a car. The teenager suffered injuries that caused serious harm to his health.
As a result, the Akhtuba interdistrict investigative Department of the SU IC of Russia in the Astrakhan region opened a criminal case against a man who handed over a moped to a minor. He is suspected of committing a crime under Part 1 of Article 151.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. As stated in the Criminal Code, this is "The inducement or other involvement of a minor in the commission of illegal acts that are obviously dangerous to the life of a minor for the perpetrator ...". An investigation is underway.
Our Vice President supported the practice of bringing adults who give pit bikes to children to criminal responsibility.
"We advocate the involvement of both a sales organization for any children's motorcycle, and parents if there was an accident involving a minor on such equipment. The number of injured child drivers is in the thousands. It's time to stop this," Shaparin said.
The leader of the Fair Russia — For Truth (SRRP) faction, Sergei Mironov, in a conversation with Izvestia on June 18, proposed introducing a ban on the operation of pitbikes on public roads in traffic regulations and punishing adults for handing pitbikes to children in the Administrative Code. He also suggested instructing the Federal Customs Service to assess the legality of importing motorcycles according to HS codes related to sports equipment, assess the volume of such imports, including over the past years, and add an unpaid recycling fee.
In addition, in an appeal to the government, the parliamentarian proposed instructing Rosstandart to evaluate which category of vehicles motorcycles (Ataki, Apollo, BSE, Kayo, Koshine, Kove, Motoland, Promax, PWR Racing, Racer and others) sold as bicycles or sports equipment should belong to the Russian market, and designate the need for their certification.
