NATO does not regard the alleged incident with an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) in Polish airspace as an attack. This was reported on September 10 by the Reuters news agency, citing a source in the alliance.

"This was the first time that NATO aircraft engaged potential threats in Allied airspace," the source said.

According to him, NATO's Patriot air defense systems detected the drones using their radars, but did not activate them. It was noted that Polish F-16 fighters, Dutch F-35 fighters, Italian AWACS surveillance aircraft, as well as tanker aircraft jointly operated by the alliance, were involved in the night operation.

Earlier that day, the operational command of the Armed Forces of Poland (RFA) announced the destruction by the Polish military of several UAVs that violated the country's airspace. It was clarified that after detecting drones in the sky, radar facilities immediately began "protective procedures" against the alleged "act of aggression."
