- Military blogger Alekhine was tried for selling substandard prosthetics for the disabled
Roman Alyokhin, a military blogger from Kursk and ex-adviser to the governor of the Kursk region, was tried in 2014 for selling substandard prosthetics for the disabled.
In the noughties, the journalist founded his own orthopedic company for the production of prosthetics. So, the state bought medical equipment from him and provided them to Russians with disabilities.
It later turned out that under the guise of newly manufactured prostheses, the company often sold old ones. Alekhine bought them for little money from the families of deceased disabled people or those who needed at least some money.
In 2014, Alekhine appeared in court, but received only a fine. In 2022, with the start of the special operation, he became active again, organizing a collection of donations for humanitarian aid to the fighters, and published some reports from trips to the front on his social networks.
Alekhine is suspected of money laundering and tax evasion under the guise of helping participants in a special military operation. On September 9, Izvestia obtained footage of him talking about a way to launder millions of rubles through his charitable foundation. As part of the criminal scheme, the company transfers 200 million to the Alekhine Foundation in order to allegedly help the front. After that, the blogger purchases medicines worth 150 million rubles from a company affiliated with the company for its participants.
