The prosecutor's office began checking after cutting down trees in Lipetsk

The Lipetsk Interdistrict Environmental Prosecutor's Office is conducting an investigation into the felling of trees in the Bykhanov Garden Park in Lipetsk for compliance with environmental legislation.

The authors of the Telegram channel "Stable Lipetsk" drew attention to the felling of trees. The publication said that on September 5, quite healthy chestnuts with whole fruits in the crown were destroyed with the help of chainsaws. The observers threatened to file an application with the Prosecutor General's Office.

The Environmental Prosecutor's Office has responded to these reports. Based on the results of the audit, a legal assessment will be given to the actions of those responsible, the press service of the supervisory authority said.

GOROD48 previously found out that 13 trees had been cut down in the park. All of them were recognized as deadwood. They were attacked by a pest bug, which is why they died. The work was carried out by a contractor under a contract with the Lipetsk Cultural Spaces Foundation.

The prosecutor's office did not reveal any violations during the work. The main focus is on damage compensation and compensatory disembarkation. Instead of the felled trees, new ones should be planted.

The press service of the city administration, in turn, reported that the work in the Bykhanov Garden was carried out on the basis of acts of the commission, which included, among others, environmentalists. The mayor's office noted that not a single healthy tree was damaged, and residents sent appeals to the administration to cut down the dry branches, as they posed a threat to park visitors. The authorities promised to carry out compensatory planting of new seedlings after the weather conditions become favorable for this.

Earlier it was reported that the improvement of Sokolsky beach is planned in Lipetsk. It is equipped with a playground and sports areas with a football field and tennis tables.
