Mass protests in Nepal began on September 8 after the authorities banned the activities of major social networks that did not register with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology on time. On September 9, protesters set fire to the central office of the ruling Nepali Congress Party, and they also attacked Nepal's Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel.
According to the latest data, a total of 22 people were killed and about 500 injured during the protests. Alexander Ivashev, press attache at the Russian Embassy in Kathmandu, told Izvestia that Russians were not among the victims.
On the same day, a special correspondent of Izvestia, Shyam Karki, showed the situation in Kathmandu after the start of mass protests. The footage behind him shows the parliament building burning, almost hidden by thick smoke.
