Soviet theater artist Nazim Beikishiev died at the age of 77.
Nazim Beikishiev, a famous Soviet theater and film artist, died of lung cancer at the age of 77. This was announced on September 9 by the Azerbaijan State Academic National Drama Theater, where Beikishiyev worked as the main artist.
"The management and staff of the Academic National Drama Theater express their condolences on the death of National Artist, State Prize winner, long—time chief artist of our theater Nazim Beikishiev, and express their deep condolences to the family and friends of the deceased," the theater's Facebook page says (owned by Meta, a company whose activities are recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation).
Nazim Beykishiyev was born on June 29, 1948 in Baku. From 1970 to 1975, he joined the experimental artistic set of set designers at the State Institute of Theatrical Art in Moscow, where he studied with People's Artist of the USSR Sergei Obraztsov.
Later, the artist worked at the Azerbaijan State Academic Musical Theater, the Azerbaijan Young Spectator Theater and the Azerbaijan State Academic National Drama Theater. He created the artwork for more than 100 performances.
In addition, Beikishiev was a painter. A collection of works by the Soviet master is presented at the Museum of Modern Art in Baku.
