Three waves of floods passed on the Chita River in three months
In 2025, three waves of floods occurred in Transbaikalia on the Chita River. This is not typical for the region, the press service of the regional Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment reported on Tuesday, September 9.
According to the ChitaMedia news agency, flood events were recorded in July, August and continue in September.
The last major flood on the Chita River occurred three years earlier, in 2022. Earlier, in 2018, the water level rose to a critical level of 4 meters.
Earlier it was reported that more than 60 km of dams were erected in Transbaikalia to protect settlements from floods. Dozens more kilometers of similar structures have been restored.
