On September 9, American political scientist Malek Dudakov, in an interview with Izvestia, expressed doubts about the reality of the United States creating an "air shield" for an actual cease-fire in Ukraine.

"Discussions on the possibility of deploying American air defense and aviation systems in the Ukrainian direction have been going on for many months, starting in 2024 and since the period of the previous administration of Joe Biden. However, so far there have been no significant steps in this direction, especially given the acute shortage of both air defense systems and missiles for them in the United States," the source said.

The political scientist stressed that one should not expect the appearance of an "air shield" in Ukraine. Despite Europe's appeals for help, it is obvious to everyone that this will not happen.

"The Americans can certainly offer the Europeans to buy something for the future. However, given that the waiting period for the new Patriot system is approximately five to seven years, Europeans will have to wait that long before they receive anything. Therefore, our side's position will obviously be negative. Nevertheless, everyone understands that this is unrealistic," Dudakov summed up.

The Financial Times (FT) newspaper reported on September 8 that the West is discussing the idea of a US "air shield" for an actual ceasefire in Ukraine. The plan involves strengthening air defense and the possible deployment of European aircraft carriers.
