Over the past day, 328 road accidents have occurred on Russian roads, in which 48 people were killed and 374 injured. 39 of the dead were passengers and drivers of vehicles. This was reported to Izvestia on September 9 by the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

For example, in St. Petersburg, on 46 km of the Beloostrov -Vyborg regional highway, a 65—year-old passenger car driver suddenly became ill while driving, and he crashed into a truck parked on a safety island, which had previously stopped there due to a technical malfunction. The elderly driver and his two passengers were killed in the car accident, including a 10-year-old schoolgirl who was in the back seat in a child restraint with a seat belt.

Eight accidents involving buses were recorded, in which there were no fatalities, but nine road users, two of whom are children, needed medical help. The reason for the five bus accidents was traffic violations committed by their drivers.

As a result of 75 accidents, 34 of which occurred at pedestrian crossings and 41 outside their area of operation, nine pedestrians were killed, and 73 more were injured in various degrees of severity. Among the injured were 20 child pedestrians, 12 of whom were injured when crossing the roadway at designated locations.

52 accidents involving minors were registered, as a result of which 56 young road users were injured, including 21 passengers, three cyclists and six motor transport drivers under the age of 16. Four children were killed: two passengers and two pedestrians.

So, in the Orenburg region, on 73 km of the Sharlyk — Novosergievka highway of regional significance, a 15-year-old teenager, driving a moped, collided with a passenger car moving in the same direction when turning left at an unregulated intersection. As a result of the accident, a 15-year-old passenger of a moped was killed, and the culprit of the collision ended up in the hospital with injuries. Like his deceased passenger of the same age, the young moped driver also did not use a helmet while driving.

In the city of Armavir, Krasnodar Territory, a 25-year-old car driver committed a gross violation of the rules of passage of an unregulated pedestrian crossing in the evening and knocked down three teenage pedestrians walking unaccompanied on it. Two 13-year-old schoolchildren were killed in an accident, and their 15-year-old friend was hospitalized with injuries. According to the motorist, he saw the children at the pedestrian crossing, but thought that they had already crossed the roadway and did not slow down or stop to let them pass.

The State Traffic Inspectorate urged motorists to strictly observe traffic regulations and be more careful on the roads of towns and cities in the early autumn, when the children returned home after a long summer vacation. Special care should be taken in the morning and evening hours when performing maneuvers or driving through courtyards and house territories, as well as road sections adjacent to preschool and school educational organizations.

In addition, motorists should reduce their speed to minimum values in advance when approaching intersections and pedestrian crossings, especially unregulated ones. You should not rush to "skip" them as quickly as possible, it is important to leave enough time to stop the vehicle in advance to allow pedestrians to pass.

Parents of underage road users were reminded of the need to be more attentive to their children, trying to ensure maximum safety for them. Lack of control over teenagers' behavior and leisure time, especially in the evening, often leads to injuries or deaths of young road users.

"The State Traffic Inspectorate urges adult family members to strictly prevent children from trying to drive on their own, as well as to exclude for them the possibility of accessing the keys of cars, mopeds and motorcycles, prohibiting the management of cars and motor vehicles without the appropriate right and driving skills. We draw the attention of parents to the administrative responsibility in the amount of 30 thousand rubles for allowing children who do not have a driver's license of the appropriate category to drive motor vehicles," said Police Colonel Anton Belan, Deputy head of the Department for Road Safety Promotion and Prevention of child traffic injuries at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation.

Earlier, on September 4, the State Traffic Inspectorate recalled that citizens and legal entities who, on the day of their admission to Russia, permanently resided in the territories of the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics (DPR and LPR), Zaporizhia and Kherson regions, are required to replace registration documents and license plates with Russian ones by January 1, 2026.
