A military expert has stated the limitations of Skyranger systems supplied to Ukraine

The main disadvantage of the Skyranger artillery systems, which the German company Rheinmetall will supply to Ukraine, is the high cost of ammunition. This was stated to Izvestia on September 9 by the director of the Museum of the Air Defense Forces, retired Colonel Yuri Knutov.

"If we know the frequencies, then we can install electronic warfare systems that will interfere with the quality operation of these anti-aircraft installations. Besides, the main problem is the price. The shells are quite expensive, I would even say that this shooting will be silver bullets for sparrows in terms of comparing price and effectiveness," the expert said.

As for the advantages of these systems, Knutov added that the Skyranger ammunition is capable of hitting not only single drones, but also entire swarms of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

Nevertheless, the military expert expressed doubts about the impact of the supply of these complexes on the situation in the special military operation zone. He stressed that new installations can help protect individual facilities, but in general, a more comprehensive approach is needed to solve air defense problems in Ukraine.

The head of the German company Rheinmetall, Armin Papperger, said that they had signed a contract to supply Ukraine with mobile UAV counteraction systems. The Ukrainian side will receive the first shipments of weapons this year. He stressed that Rheinmetall's production facilities are capable of producing from 70 to 100 Skyranger towers annually, with the prospect of increasing to 200 units.
