The father of the children who died as a result of poisoning with an insecticide was found guilty of causing death by negligence and sentenced to two years of probation with a probation period of three years. This was reported on September 9 in the Investigative Committee (IC) of the Russian Federation for the region.
The man was found guilty under Part 3 of Article 109 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Causing death by negligence"). It is specified that he exceeded the consumption rate calculated by the manufacturer, depending on the area of the room, and treated the household with an aerosol, the components of which got on food, cookware and bedding.
In addition, he did not comply with the manufacturer's recommendations on precautions during processing, prolonged ventilation of the room and wet cleaning of treated surfaces.
According to the investigation, as a result, the components of the insecticide entered the bodies of children.
The poisoning of spouses and their four children in the village of Krasnaya Sopka, Krasnoyarsk Territory, was reported on September 21, 2024. The family sought medical help at the hospital with nausea and vomiting. As a result of a sharp deterioration in health, the minor brother and sister died. Later, on September 22, the third child died, and on the 23rd— the fourth. The GSU of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the region said that at the time of the incident, the children's mother was nine months pregnant. She and her husband managed to survive.
On December 2 of the same year, the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation reported that the cause of poisoning was the misuse of dichlorvos. According to the agency, poisons from dichlorvos, which was randomly sprayed by the head of the family, got on all surfaces of the house and things, which caused the death of children. The next day, on December 3, a 34-year-old father of four minors who died from dichlorvos poisoning in the Krasnoyarsk Territory was charged, and the man pleaded guilty to the incident.
Also on February 2 of this year, it was reported that a three-month-old child died in this family. It was clarified that no diseases were diagnosed, the baby was not registered in hospitals. A criminal case has been opened on this fact under Part 1 of Article 109 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Causing death by negligence").
