- A fundraiser for a lawyer for the murderer of a Ukrainian refugee has been opened in the USA
A fundraiser for a lawyer for Decarlos Brown Jr., accused of murdering Ukrainian refugee Irina Zarutskaya in North Carolina, was opened on the GoFundMe platform. This was reported on September 8 by the New York Post (NYP).
The fundraising page says that the criminal, who was arrested and subsequently released at least 14 times, is allegedly the same victim as the murdered 23-year-old Zarutskaya.
"While what happened on the Blue Line [metro] was a tragedy, we must not lose sight of the fact that Decarlos Brown Jr. categorically failed the North Carolina judicial system and mental health services and is not entirely to blame for what happened," the newspaper quoted the platform as saying.
One of the fundraisers felt that helping the 35-year-old suspect would also support "the fight against racism and prejudice against the American people."
On September 8, US President Donald Trump said that the Democrats and their policies were to blame for the death of a Ukrainian refugee.
The murder of a Ukrainian refugee in the US state of North Carolina became known on August 25. It was clarified that the suspect in the incident was 34-year-old Decarlos Brown Jr. The man was repeatedly arrested for theft. He also served five years in prison for robbery with a deadly weapon.
