- Reuters has learned about Kiev's indirect purchases of Russian oil from India and Slovakia
Ukraine indirectly imports Russian oil by purchasing it from India and Slovakia. This was reported on September 8 by the Reuters news agency, citing analysts familiar with the matter.
"Ukraine's loss of oil refineries (refineries. This summer, it forced traders to compensate for this by importing diesel fuel from India, which imports a significant part of its oil from Russia," the expert is quoted as saying in the publication.
The article clarifies that starting in 2022, Kiev has been buying fuel from Western countries. And the purchase of fossil fuels from Russia, according to Sergey Kuyun, an employee of the Ukrainian fuel consulting company A-95, is due to its severe shortage.
Kuyun added that the volume of diesel fuel purchased from India, which "meets post-Soviet standards," in the Ukrainian market exceeded 10%.
On September 5, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto accused European countries of hypocrisy and using "workarounds" to purchase oil from Russia. He clarified that his state purchases fuel from Moscow openly.
