In Stavropol, Interior Ministry officers detained a driver who killed a woman.
As a result of a fatal accident that occurred in Nevinnomyssk, Stavropol Territory, a woman died — the 48-year-old driver, who fled the scene, was detained. This was announced on September 8 by the official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation Irina Volk.
"Colleagues from the Stavropol Territory detained a suspect in a fatal road accident that occurred on September 7 in the city of Nevinnomyssk. <...> The man was detained in accordance with Article 91 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Russian Federation ("Grounds for the detention of a suspect." — Ed.)," reads her message on the Telegram channel.
It is specified that the woman died from injuries sustained as a result of the accident. A criminal case was opened into the incident in accordance with Part 4 of Article 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Violation of traffic rules and operation of vehicles, resulting in the death of a person by negligence").
Representatives of the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia informed Izvestia on the same day that 693 road accidents were recorded in the territory of the Russian Federation over the past weekend. As a result of the accidents, 70 people were killed and another 839 were injured.
