Tatiana Kaverina, the mother of Russian ethnologist and cultural and social anthropologist Svyatoslav Kaverin, who was detained in Afghanistan, shared with Izvestia on Monday, September 8, that his family remained silent in order to facilitate his early release.

According to the woman, Svyatoslav was held without charges for almost two months. Tatiana shared that she had hope for his release. She also clarified that from the very beginning, it was reported through unofficial channels that Kaverin should be released.
She noted that as time passed, she also learned about the intermediate stages — the trial was underway, Svyatoslav's contacts were found out, the filming and his accomplices were checked. Tatiana clarified that the scientist traveled to the provinces. She also stressed that he was not allowed to pack and pack his things properly, and the SIM card was obviously pulled out of the phone.
Earlier that day, the plane carrying Kaverin took off from Afghanistan for Russia. His mother confirmed this information. According to her, he will arrive home at night.
