The extraordinary BRICS summit has ended
The virtual meeting of the BRICS leaders, which lasted about an hour and a half, was initiated by Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva. This was reported by the press service of the Brazilian leader.
"The meeting also provided an opportunity to exchange views on how to counter the risks associated with increased unilateral measures, including in international trade," the Brazilian government's website says.
During the meeting, the leaders also discussed the expansion of solidarity, coordination and trade cooperation mechanisms between the BRICS countries.
Earlier in the day, the Kremlin's press service reported that the BRICS leaders discussed cooperation in trade, economic and other areas during the summit, taking into account the current situation in the global economy. It was clarified that Russian President Vladimir Putin also took part in the meeting.
