9 years and 9 months of penal colony were requested for the producers of "Mr. Cider".

During a hearing in the court of the Krasnoarmeysky district of Samara, the state prosecution requested nine years and nine months in prison for the producers of the Mr. Cider drink, the owner of the company, Anar Huseynov, and the supplier of methyl alcohol, Artyom Hayrapetyan, in the case of fatal poisoning. This was announced on September 8 by a correspondent of Izvestia from the courtroom.

They are charged under Part 3 of Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Production and sale of alcohol-containing products that do not meet safety requirements, resulting in mass deaths due to negligence").

According to investigators, Hayrapetyan sold Huseynov 6 tons of dangerous methanol, which he acquired from ex-policeman Ivan Grebenkin and his friends. It is known that they stole sleeping bags from the warehouse of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia. It has been stored there since 2012. As a result, more than 100 people were poisoned by the drink, 50 of whom died. The total amount of the claims exceeds 46 million rubles.

In 2023, 50 people died after drinking this surrogate alcohol.

On June 7, 2023, Rospotrebnadzor reported the seizure of 66.5 thousand liters of "Mr. Cider" in 15 regions of the country. Then, in several regions at once, it became known about the mass poisoning with the counterfeit drink "Mr. Cider". Huseynov, suspected of producing surrogate alcohol, was detained.

A criminal case was opened into the poisoning under Part 3 of Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Provision of services that do not meet safety requirements, resulting in the death of two or more persons by negligence").
