Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Evgeny Fedosov died at the age of 97
Evgeny Fedosov, an ideologist of the development of the aviation component of the USSR nuclear triad, academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS), died at the age of 97. This was announced on September 8 by the press service of the State Scientific Research Institute of Aviation Technologies (GosNIIAS).
"A legend has passed away — an academician who personally knew Mikoyan, Sukhoi and Yakovlev," says a message on the RAS website.
It is specified that it was Fedosov who was the ideologist of the development of the aviation component of the USSR nuclear triad — strategic cruise missiles X-55 with Tu-95MS carrier aircraft, as well as Tu-160 aircraft complexes that ensured the strategic parity of the USSR and the USA. For this work, he was awarded the title Hero of Socialist Labor.
Fedosov was born on May 14, 1929 in Moscow. In 1952, he graduated from the Faculty of Instrument Engineering at the Bauman Moscow State Technical University. Later, in 1954, he began working at GosNIIAS.
The academician was also able to influence the formation of a whole galaxy of scientists and engineers with systems thinking, as well as ensure the unity of approaches to the development of aviation technology. In addition, Fedosov participated in the implementation of the country's scientific and technical policy, while remaining one of the main experts in aviation science for the rest of his life.
