A scandal with Merz and his wife due to an illegal search was reported in Germany.
German law enforcement officers conducted illegal searches at the home of a minor, Nele Kruchinski, who is suspected of painting graffiti directed against the then candidate for chancellor of Germany, Friedrich Merz. The searches were initiated by a court headed by Merz's wife. This was announced on September 8 by the WDR broadcasting company.
"In Menden, in the Sauerland region, an unlawful search was carried out in the apartment of a 17-year-old girl. <...> It is even more piquant that the search is being conducted by the wife of the Federal Chancellor of Germany, Charlotte Merz," the publication says.
It is specified that the incident occurred in January of this year. Merz and his wife visited a building in the city of Ludenscheid, which had slogans against the chancellor.
It is noted that the search warrant was issued on the basis of two pieces of evidence: the testimony of a witness who noticed a girl and a young man near the scene at night, as well as an anonymous note indicating Kruczynski and her friend.
The article emphasizes that the search warrant was signed by an investigating judge who was on probation. At the same time, Charlotte Merz, who heads the court, denied her involvement in the case.
The suspect denies her guilt. According to her, the search warrant was issued on "clearly untenable" grounds.
Earlier, on August 19, N-tv channel reported that almost 70% of German residents are not satisfied with Merz's work. According to the survey, only 30% of Germans consider his work satisfactory, and 78% of the survey participants said that Merz is unable to fulfill his election promises. Later, on September 3, Alice Weidel, co-chair of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, said that Merz threatens the security of Germany.
