Changan cars can be produced in Russia
Production of cars of the Chinese brand Changan may begin in Russia, follows from the statement of Alexander Kulagin, executive director of Chang'an Motors Rus LLC.
"We have a focus on localization, we have conducted all the necessary negotiations and hope to see a car with a local VIN number in the foreseeable future. I think the relevant statements will follow before the end of the year, but we are not disclosing the details yet," Interfax quoted Kulagin as saying on September 8.
He also confirmed that the company plans to modernize the current model range in the CS and UNI series and present a new model range in the Deepal series. In the near future, it is planned to launch the Deepal G318 hybrid crossover, the Avatr 12 electric coupe, as well as the new generation CS75 Plus crossover.
According to the top manager, in 2024, almost every tenth car sold in Russia was owned by the Changan brand, and about 106 thousand cars of the brand were sold during the year. About half of Changan's sales in the Russian market are made up of the UNI-S front-wheel drive crossover, formerly known as the CS55.
Earlier that day, it was reported that the all-wheel drive seven-seat crossover Tenet T8 began to arrive at Russian dealers. The start of accepting orders for the Tenet T8 was announced on September 2, the crossover is offered in two trim levels priced from 3.54 million and 3.79 million rubles.
