The economist announced an increase in pensions for working pensioners in 2026

Igor Balynin, PhD in Economics, Associate professor at the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, said that working pensioners will have their pensions indexed three times in 2026.

In conversation with aif.ru On September 6, he noted that starting next year, additional pension indexation will be introduced in April. Thus, for all pensioners, the increase will occur twice — in February and April 2026, the economist noted.

He added that for pensioners who worked in 2025, an undeclared recalculation of insurance pensions is provided in August 2026. According to him, there will be three pay increases for actually working pensioners next year.

On September 8, Balynin announced an increase in pensions for some categories of Russians in October. Balynin added that the pension increase will happen automatically. The indexation of pensions by 7.6% will also affect those who receive payments through the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the FSB, the Federal Penitentiary Service and other state authorities of the Russian Federation, RT notes.

On the same day, MP Sergei Mironov proposed changing the procedure for pension indexation in Russia by switching to quarterly recalculation.
