- Vaccination against tick-borne encephalitis may be introduced in the Murmansk region
Vaccination against tick-borne encephalitis has been proposed in the Murmansk region. Pests began to appear in some areas.
The proposal was made by Governor Andrey Chibis. According to him, information about the appearance of ticks comes from residents of the south of the Murmansk region. The head of the region suggested that the Ministry of Health consider seasonal vaccination against tick-borne encephalitis in the Tersk district and other southern regions. The Bi-port news agency writes about this.
Rospotrebnadzor emphasizes that the Murmansk region does not belong to endemic territories for tick-borne infections. Mostly Northerners "import" ticks from other regions. As of early September, 43 people had applied to doctors with pest bites. One person was diagnosed with encephalitis, and five more were diagnosed with borreliosis.
Doctors note that borreliosis is manifested by a rash, dizziness, headaches and general malaise. In some cases, the disease can lead to brain inflammation.
