- Coach Karpin announced the struggle of the Russian national football team in case of admission to the European Championship and the World Cup
The coach of the Russian national football team, Valery Karpin, said on September 7 that the team could have competed if it had participated in the European Championship and the World Cup.
When asked if the Russian players at the World Cup would have fought to get out of the group, Karpin answered in the affirmative.
"We would have fought, of course. Whether it would have worked or not is another question," Sport-Express quoted him as saying.
The coach of the Russian national team also noted that he would like to get to the main international competitions in order to start the fight.
The dialogue with Karpin took place at the end of the victorious game between Russia and Qatar, the match ended with a score of 4:1.
At the moment, the Russian national team has 20 wins and is second only to the team from Spain, which has 21 games without a single defeat.
Earlier, on September 5, the coach of the Legends of Russia team, Valery Gladilin, spoke about the result of the match between Russia and Jordan. According to him, the main task of the game was to review the lineup, not the score.
On the same day, it was reported that a friendly match between the Russian national team and the Asian Cup finalist Jordan was held in Moscow at the Lukoil Arena stadium. It was noted that three Russian athletes received yellow cards. Kirill Glebov, 19, made his debut for the Russian national team, replacing Mostovoy in the 62nd minute.
