British police have arrested about 900 people at a demonstration in support of Palestine Action in London. This was reported on September 7 by the Reuters news agency, citing law enforcement agencies.

According to local police, most of the 890 people detained at a demonstration in the city center on Saturday, September 6, were arrested for supporting a banned group. Another 17 people were arrested for assaulting police officers.

"The violence we encountered during the operation was coordinated and carried out by a group of people... The intention is to create as much disorder as possible," said Deputy Assistant Commissioner Claire Smart.

Protest organizers said those arrested included priests, war veterans, medical workers, the elderly and the disabled. At the same time, a spokesman for the group clarified that mass acts of disobedience will continue until the ban is lifted.

On September 6, The Guardian newspaper reported that about 300 protesters were detained in London after 1.5 thousand people took to Parliament Square, despite the ban on demonstrations in support of the Palestine Action movement.
