Five people were killed and another was seriously injured when a migrant boat and a Turkish patrol vessel collided in the Aegean Sea off northwest Turkey. This was reported by the Reuters news agency on September 7.

According to the governor's office, the incident occurred off the coast of Ayvalyk district. A high-speed boat with 34 migrants and one carrier collided with a Turkish patrol vessel.

"As a result of search and rescue operations in the region, it was established that five people who fell into the sea died. One woman was seriously injured and was taken to the hospital," the statement said.

According to the newspaper, the authorities continue to search for one missing person. The Ayvalyk Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation into the incident.

On September 4, a boat crash in Niger killed 29 people. It was noted that there were 90 passengers on board at the time of the sinking. An overload of the vessel or a collision with a wooden object in the water were named as the alleged versions of the incident.
