Illinois Governor Jay B. Pritzker called US President Donald Trump a "dictator" on September 6 in response to the possible deployment of Ministry of War troops to Chicago to combat migrants.

"The president of the United States is threatening to start a war with an American city. <...> Illinois will not be intimidated by an impostor dictator," he wrote on the social network X.

Pritzker noted that Trump is showing cowardice by his actions, rather than showing his power in the states.

Earlier in the day, Trump hinted at using mines in Chicago to arrest migrants. The American leader posted a screenshot of the post with the caption "I love the smell of deportations in the morning" and added that "Chicago will soon find out why it's called the Ministry of War." He attached his image to the post in the image of Lieutenant Colonel Kilgore from the movie "Apocalypse Today" with the inscription "Apocalypse today".

Earlier, on September 5, Trump signed a decree renaming the Ministry of Defense to the "Ministry of War" for the duration of his presidential term. He noted that this is an appropriate name in the current light of the state of the world. In his opinion, the United States won all the wars and decisively renamed the United States Department of Defense.
