DT reported on the UK's plans to place migrants on military bases
The UK plans to house illegal migrants at former military bases. This was reported by The Daily Telegraph (DT) on September 6.
"Migrants in hotels for asylum seekers will be resettled in barracks on former military bases," the publication says.
It is noted that special hotels for refugees will be closed specifically for this purpose. This is due to nationwide protests against illegal migration and the struggle of the country's Prime Minister Keir Starmer against gangs involved in people smuggling.
Earlier, on August 3, it was reported that Britain would allocate $132 million to combat migrants illegally crossing the English Channel. British Interior Minister Yvette Cooper said that the allocated funds will allow hiring 300 new employees in the National Crime Agency. The money will also be used to purchase new technologies and equipment that will help improve intelligence gathering on people smuggling groups.
On July 26, mass protests were reported against migrant hotels amid growing public discontent with the problems of illegal entry into the UK. It is reported that there was a brief clash between the protesters and activists who spoke in support of migrants.
