- Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation spoke about cooperation with China
The necessary teleconference has been built between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin, which makes it possible to build cooperation between the two countries. Olga Petrova, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, told about this on September 6 at the session "Dialogue without Borders: Youth initiatives of Russia and China" at the youth forum "Day of the Future" within the framework of the Eastern Economic Forum (WEF-2025).
"I can clearly say that international cooperation is cooperation between people. And the bridges that are being built and are being created, first of all, the main bridge that has been built, is between the leaders of our countries. And now we are all moving across this bridge, creating even more opportunities for the development of our projects and initiatives," she said.
Petrova also recalled the recent meeting between the leaders of the two countries. Within the framework of it, they set a clear direction for cooperation. In her opinion, the step taken by the Chinese side by introducing a visa-free regime demonstrates that this decision of people destroys borders and creates even more opportunities for contacts.
"I am very pleased to see a whole team of our Chinese students here, and I am very glad to see them here at our Far Eastern Federal University. I want to emphasize that in fact, more than 50,000 Chinese students are currently studying at universities in our country," she added.
On September 5, Putin noted the importance of introducing a visa-free regime for joint business in China. According to him, this will help to increase mutual trips and create favorable conditions for entrepreneurship. The Head of State added that such a gesture is a sign of great friendship between the two countries, which Moscow highly appreciates.
The introduction of a visa-free regime for Russian citizens with a regular passport for up to 30 days was announced on September 2. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation added that Russia has requested additional clarifications from China on the conditions of entry as part of the decision on visa-free entry. Putin indicated the next day that Russia would reciprocate China's move.
