The meeting of Ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states is taking place on September 6 on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum 2025 (WEF 2025).

It is noted that the meeting will discuss support for the multilateral trading system and the reform of the World Trade Organization, ensuring sustainable supply and production chains in the SCO region and sustainable economic development.

Earlier, on August 28, Russian President Vladimir Putin, on the sidelines of the WEF-2025, pointed out the opportunities for developing beneficial ties between Russia and the SCO and BRICS. According to the President, Russia is ready for a constructive dialogue with all interested partners and intends to actively participate in collective efforts to build a fair system of international relations in the Asia-Pacific region based on genuine equality and respect for each other's legitimate interests.

According to him, in just the past two years, the trade turnover between these countries has increased by 30% and reached almost $1 trillion. According to the results for 2024, the total GDP of the SCO member countries amounted to $24.6 trillion, which is about a quarter of the global total.
